History and structure
LEAF was initiated in 1999 by the Forest in Schools programme in Norway, Sweden and Finland in corporation with the Foundation for Environmental Education and officially rolled out in 2000. Today, these three founders still play a major role in the LEAF organisation, as they are all part of the International Steering Committee.
The International LEAF Director and FEE Head Office are responsible for the day-to-day management of the programme and its activities. FEE Head Office supports the development of the programme in new countries and supports existing countries by exchanging best practice. The International Steering Committee is responsible for supporting and advising the International LEAF Director.
