LEAF Global Action Days

Join LEAF on the International Day of Forests every March 21

The International Day of Forests raises awareness not only of the importance of forests to people but also of their role in poverty eradication, environmental sustainability and food security. Sustainable management of all types of forests is key to assist and tackle the challenges of conflict-affected, developing and developed countries, for the benefit of current and future generations.

Students and teachers are invited to come up with innovative ideas that raise awareness, create positive change, help the environment and lead to a more sustainable future. These ideas are put into action during LEAF Global Action Day, every March 21, to coincide with the International Day of Forests. Schools are invited to share their ideas for action and positive stories on our website and social media sites.

Global Action Days are open to all. Schools and students both within and outside the FEE network are welcome to get involved. Join thousands of students around the globe and show that together we can make a difference!

This year's theme is Forests and Sustainable Cities

In addition to raising awareness about the importance of sustainable and green urban spaces, this year's theme aligns with the SDG 11's targets. Goal 11 strives to make cities safe and sustainable in order to ensure access to safe and affordable housing, and upgrade slum settlements. Furthermore, it also involves investment in public transport, creating green public spaces, and improving urban planning and management in a way that is both participatory and inclusive.
